Kamala Harris

 Kamala Devi Harris born October 20th 1964) is an American lawyer and politician who is the 49th and current vice-president of the United States. She is the first female vice president and the most powerful female politician in U.S. history, as well as the first African American and first Asian American vice president. She is a member of Congress and a former US senator representing California. Harris was born in Oakland, California, Harris graduated from Howard University and the University of California, Hastings College of the Law. Harris started her career in the Alameda County District Attorney's Office. She was then recruited to the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. She was elected San Francisco district attorney in 2003. In 2010 Harris was elected Attorney General for California. She was re-elected in 2014. Harris was the junior United States senator from California between 2017 and 2021. Harris beat Loretta Santiago in the 2016 Senate election, becoming the 2nd African American woman to serve in Congress and the first South Asian American American to be elected to the United States Senate. As a senator, she advocated for reforms to healthcare, federal de-scheduling of cannabis, a path to citizenship for immigrants who are not legal, the DREAM Act, a ban of assault weapons and progressive tax reform. Her sharp questioning of Trump officials during Senate hearings earned the attention of the nation, including the second Supreme Court nominee, Brett Kavanaugh who was indicted with sexual assault.
